Rabbi Mordechai & Chana Rubin, who recently relocated to the Capital Region, have announced the establishment & opening of the Chai Jewish Center to serve Jewish families and individuals in the Town of Colonie. 


Rabbi Mordechai is youngest son of Rabbi Yisroel and Rochel Rubin who were sent by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Schneerson to establish Capital Chabad in 1974, which now offers 10 outreach branches in various cities of the Capital Region. 
Mordechai was born and raised in Albany, NY and studied in the Maimonides Hebrew Day School. Rabbi Mordechai later went on to further his education in Chicago, IL, Manchester, England, and Brooklyn NY.  In each of these cities, Rabbi Mordechai involved himself in outreach, caring and volunteering for Jewish causes. Rabbi Mordechai, taught Talmud, Chassidic Philosophy & edited the Talmudic Journal at the Rabbinical College in Melbourne, Australia. He completed his Rabbinic ordination at the Central Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitz in Brooklyn. After marrying Chana, he continued his studies at the Kolel for advanced Rabbinics before moving to Capital Region in October of 2017 to establish the Chai Jewish Center of Colonie.
 
Mrs. Chana Rubin grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where her father, Rabbi Yossi Paltiel, teaches at the Central Lubavitch Yeshiva. As a scholar and world- lecturer, Chana's father instilled in her a passion for knowledge and appreciation for Torah and Jewish life. 


After graduating from Beth Rivka Schools of Brooklyn, Chana spent a year in Israel studying  at the Beth Chana Teachers Seminary in Tzfat. Chana has dedicated two years working with special education and taught several years of Hebrew School. She has created a curriculum for Jewish studies used by children around the country.

Rabbi Mordechai & Chana Rubin married in New York in 2016, and have two daughters, Mushka and Risha.

The Chai Jewish Center's provides many programs; such as Holiday programs, Jewish Women's Circle,  Adult Education, visitation to the senior community and Jewish Kid's Craft .
